Varanasi Introduction:
Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi (IIT BHU) is
a public technical university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.
Founded in 1919 as the
Banaras
Engineering College, it became the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu
University in 1968.
It was designated an Indian Institute of Technology in 2012. IIT (BHU)
Varanasi has 16 departments, 3 inter-disciplinary schools and 1 Humanities
& Social Sciences Section. It is located inside the Banaras Hindu
University Campus.
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) (Hindi: काशी हिन्दू हिश्वहिद्यालय IAST:kashi Hindu vishwavidyalaya IPA: kaʃi hind̪ u viʃvÉ™vid̪ yalÉ™y), formerly Central Hindu College, is a collegiate, central, and research university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.
It was established in 1916 jointly by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, the Maharaja of Darbhanga Rameshwar Singh, Maharaja of Banaras Prabhu Narayan Singh, Sunder Lal and British Theosophist and Home Rule League founder Annie Besant.
With over 30,000 students, and
18,000 residing on campus, BHU is the largest residential university in Asia.
The university is one of the eight public institutions declared as an Institute
of Eminence by the Government of India.
BHU has often been referred by different names throughout
the history and present. Some of the English names include Banaras
University,Benares Hindu University, and Hindu University.
The university's main campus, spread over 1,370 acres (5.5 km2),was built on land donated by the Kashi Naresh Prabhu Narayan Singh, the hereditary ruler of Banaras ("Kashi" being an alternative name for Banaras or Varanasi).
The south campus, spread over 2,700 acres (11 km2) is
built on land donated later by Maharaj Kumar Aditya Narayan Singh in
Sunderpur,hosts the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Agriculture Science Centre) and is
located in Barkachha in Mirzapur district, about 60 km (37 mi) from Varanasi.
BHU is organized into six institutes, 14 faculties (streams) and about 140 departments. As of 2020, the total student enrolment at the university is 30,698 coming from 48 countries. It has over 65 hostels for resident students.
Several of its faculties and institutes include Arts, Social Sciences, Commerce, Management Studies, Science, Performing Arts, Law, Agricultural Science, Medical Science, and Environment and Sustainable Development along with departments of Linguistics, Journalism & Mass Communication, among others.
The university's engineering institute was
designated as an Indian Institute of Technology in June 2012, and henceforth is
Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) .
Centralised in 1916 through the Banaras Hindu University
Act, Banaras Hindu University is India's first central university. BHU
celebrated its centenary year in 2015–2016.

BHU is a collegiate, central, and research university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, As per the latest NIRF Ranking 2022, the university ranks 6th among the top universities in India. BHU admission 2022 for UG and PG courses will be done through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
CUET UG 2022 exam for all phases concluded on August 30, results for
the same will be announced soon. CUET PG 2022 exam will be conducted from
September 1 to September 11, except for September 8. Also, NEET Result 2022 is
out now. Candidates can download the scorecard by visiting the official website
- neet.nta.nic.in. NEET UG Counselling 2022 by the Medical Counselling
Committee (MCC) for All India Quota seats will begin soon.
Banaras Hindu University (BHU), formerly known as Central Hindu College, is a central university located in Varanasi, India. It is recognised by the UGC and accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC. BHU is ranked 6th among the Top Universities in India by NIRF Ranking 2022. BHU Campus spans across 1,300 acres of land and has all the facilities that students can imagine.

BHU admission process is completely online.

Admission to UG and PG courses will be done
through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by NTA.

7.IIT (BHU) Varanasi-Reservation:
The Banaras Hindu University provides reservations for the
following categories:
•
15% & 7.5% seats are reserved for SC/ST
candidates in each course respectively.
•
27% Reservation to candidates belonging to OBC
category (excluding under creamy layer) will be provided in different courses.
•
3% seats shall be reserved for Physically
Challenged Candidates: Visually Impaired (1%)+ Hearing Impaired (1%) +
Orthopaedically Handicapped (1%)
•
15% of seats out of the total number of seats in
M.P.Ed. are allocated for female candidates. In case any such seats remain
vacant, these will be filled by male candidates on merit.
•
15% supernumerary seats in all the courses

Varanasi-Scholarship:
The University provides financial help to deserving
students under the Students’ Welfare
Fund. Mentioned below are the details for the same:
1. 50
poor students shall be provided Lunch and Dinner under “Free Meal Facility” for
at least 7 months. In the case of female hostellers, they will be reimbursed
the actual Mess charges.
2. 20
blind students shall be entitled to get Free Lunch and Dinner and also an
amount of INR 5000 per annum under “Annadaan Yojana”.
3. First
and Second Rank holders will be awarded a Cash Prize of INR 4000 and INR 300
respectively.
4. An
amount of INR 2000 per annum shall be granted as Financial Assistance to the
students belonging to poor family background. This will be subject to a maximum
of 100 students.
5. A
one time grant of INR 4000 per student shall be provided to the Physically
Handicapped students for their entire course tenure, subject to a maximum of 25
students.
6. Sleeper
Class Rail Fare will be reimbursed to the students, other than research
scholars, who participate in any national level seminar/symposia/conference.
7. A
maximum of INR 5000 shall be provided as Financial Assistance for organizing
Seminars/Workshops, at the Faculty/Institute level, which should be beneficial
to the students, subject to a maximum of 10 Seminars/Symposia/Workshops per
annum.

(BHU) Varanasi-Facilities:
Hostel: BHU
provides separate hostel accommodation facilities for both boys and girls. For
boys there are 41 hostel accommodations available and for girls 21 hostels are
available. Additionally there is a separate hostel for International students.
Each hostel in BHU is equipped with the basic services such as water purifiers,
TV, common room, mess, laundry services, recreation room, security and
surveillance system and others.
Library: BHU
provides a fully air conditioned cyber library for all its students. There are
115 departmental libraries which include nearly 1.5 million books, an
uncountable number of journals, magazines, weeklies, multilingual newspapers,
e-books can be found in the library. In other words, it is an educational
paradise for the ones who are in a knowledge quest.
Sports Complex: Several
facilities for sports and recreational activities are provided to the students
by the University. The huge area of the University has badminton courts,
basketball courts, cricket ground, football ground, squash court, swimming
pool, tennis court, table tennis, mountaineering club, Flying club and many
